Debbie Bertram and Susan Bloom have been a writing team for more than six years. Before writing children's books, Susan taught elementary school and Debbie worked in television production. They met when Debbie's daughter was a student in Susan's class, and they have been friends ever since.

Their first book. The Best Place to Read (Random House, 2003), a best-selling picture book, celebrates the joy of reading. Their sequel is The Best Time to Read (Random House, 2005). They have also written City Hall-The Heart of Los Angeles.

Stuart Funk is Art Director of Palm Springs Life. He moved to the Coachella Valley after attending Long Beach State University, where he studied drawing and painting.

Stuart has worked as an illustrator for many national outdoor magazines. He enjoys hiking, camping and exploring nature. A Monument to Treasure is his debut for younger readers.
